I was intrigued by the premise of this book, and how the author could make connections between DH Lawrence, whose books I’ve read and enjoyed, and Freud and Nietzsche, among others that I have not. The Greek concept of Pneumatic spirit, and their belief that the soul existed in the air we take into our bodies, was particularly interesting for me, a student of Yoga. Yoga is also based on breath, and the belief that mastering the breath can ease body and mind.
I’m still reading this treasure, along with my pile of books, and it is a considerable read. Martin has brought many jagged pieces together, and forms an intricate and thought provoking puzzle for us to solve.
