Mandy Robinson

This novel absolutely floored me. I loved it. The story revolves around an Afrikaans family, living on their family farm outside Pretoria. The scenery is vivid, the characters authentic and I think many South African's will see some of themselves and their own families in the Swaarts. I could relate to a few of the main characters, but especially Anton. This book expertly navigates the many themes affecting South Africans before and post apartheid. From death, racism, religion, family dynamics and mental health. Wonderfully written, you feel like you're right there with Amora, Anton and Astrid. An absolute modern day classic.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show from start to finish. The characters are complex and interesting and its enjoyable seeing how they tackle the challenges that arise. There's a good mix of teenagers doing the right and the wrong thing and the situations tend to bring out the best and the worst in the characters. The show feels authentic and I binged watched it till the end of the season. This is what LOST should have been and could have been. Loved it.

What a gem of a show, this one is great fun. The main characters are intriguing, real and authentic and the relationship between Otis and his Mum is hilarious. The supporting cast are fabulous as well, my favourite is Eric, best friend to Otis. This show tackles all the sticky awkwardness of teenage life with sensitivity and flare and is gripping from the get go. Throw in a menacing headmaster, school bully and an underage sex-clinic and you have a recipe for a load of laughs. Prepare to binge.....
