Same story, different setting. Rob Zombie shows his limitations with this one, as it's almost a cliche of a Rob Zombie movie. It's exactly what you'd expect from Rob. It's suspenseful, brutal, cartoonishly over the top, and has an ending that I could see coming from before the movie was even made. Similar to Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino, Rob has a masterfull sense at creating a certain tone, however, it's the exact same thing we've already seen from every other movie he's put out. At some point, you gotta have something new... otherwise you're a one trick pony/hack.
Prediction for Rob Zombie's next horror film: a group falls into a bad situation, where they meet a group of excessively violent nutcases, who kill them off in grotesque ways, until only one remains. Just when you think that last survivor is going to make it out and escape, turns out they are only sent back, and the bad guys win. Same thing as every other time.
