Wow, what a show. I watched season 1 in one day. I love the character development of Joe. He is by all definitions a murderer, stalker, and sociopath, but the writers make him out to be the protagonist by his nice guy persona with Paco. Soon after though, the writers remind us the Joe is not a good guy all the while joe rationalizes his every move. We want to route for him but he ends up crossing a boundary every time.
Social media and privacy (or lack thereof) are huge themes throughout season 1. Joe somehow gains access to practically everyoneโs personal information by cyber or physical stalking. While the physical stalking is hard to believe at certain points due to certain characters (many times beck) being oblivious to Joe being right next to her without her noticing, it is still revealing on how little privacy we really have due to rise in popularity of social media as well as how easy this can translate to physical stalking. Joe stalks everyone he meets and gets caught only a couple of times. And yes, this is Hollywood so it is not 100% real, it still paints a exposing picture on the reality of stalking in the social media age.
Also, to everyone talking about how Joe hasnโt been caught. Itโs a Hollywood.
