This story of a brother and sister and those around them was just wonderful. One of the best stories I have ever read. Even the peripheral characters were interesting and begged for a book of their own.
This is the kind of book I prefer. A story with realistic people that one might know or at least pass on the street.
Interestingly the story is narrated by the brother. The author has chosen to tell the story from the perspective of her gender opposite. The brother’s adoration of his sister/surrogate mother is the main beauty of the story. It is fascinating to me.
