3/10
I went into this movie excited about creepy pagans and left feeling very disappointed. The scariest part of this movie for me was the very beginning. The rest of the movie felt predictable and wasn't very creepy or unsettling as others claim. I'll admit the relationship at the center of this film is very realistic, but in my opinion it made the movie more frustrating than unsettling.
The "comic-relief" is exhausting and annoying and most of the characters are the same way.
If you want artsy gore you'd be better off watching NBC's Hannibal over this (one of the scenes felt ripped straight out of an episode), which is sad considering that's a network television show.
For me, the best part of this movie was the portrayal of Dani's panic attacks/breakdowns. They seemed so real, and if you've ever experienced something similar that might end up being the most unsettling part of the movie for you.
