Ok. Let me just start off with saying that this movie was terrible, painful to watch, and had horrible lessons for kids. I was really disappointed watching this remake.
As a kid watching Home Sweet Home Alone after watching and loving the first two classics, I find this movie incredibly bad because 1, itโs like theyโre trying to make the sentimental, nostalgic first Home Alone into this new, modern disappointment.
2, The acting was miserable to watch. The guy and his wife (I donโt even remember their names because their characters were horrible portrayed and written) , the โrobbersโ would be flipping and flopping all over the place like it was a cartoon movie. Toward the end of the movie, Maxโs mom didnโt have even a close enough well reaction to seeing Max as Mrs. McCallister did towards Kevin. Like, shouldnโt you be excited that youโre seeing your kid after a couple days of leaving him home and worrying about him?
3, The characters and way the story was thought out as was horrific. First of all, Max, the protagonist is a spoiled brat. โMummy! You canโt promise a kid Mcdonalds and then not get it for him!โ โWell, Iโm a child in need!โ Like what a brat. The film makers want you to feel bad for Max because heโs home alone and they want you to feel bad for the robbers because they were going to have to move. But with the actors and the way it was written, I couldnโt care less about any of them. In the first Home Alone, there is no doll or special thing that the robbers wanted. It was really confusing and hard to follow with tons of relatives and family members from two families and to see whatโs going on the with the doll. The uncles of both families just made the movie worse. I was thinking to myself, โjust shut up already! Please,โ every time they would talk. The mom robberโs character would change every 2 minutes. Like first she would be super nice and teacher like. And then 2 minutes later, she was this aggressive beast forcing her husband to do something. It makes kids view their teachers in a whole new way.
4, The booby traps and pranks sucked. Probably every time I watch Home Alone 1, I laugh at every prank thatโs played on the robbers. This time when I watched Home Sweet Home Alone, I had a straight face watching the overly reactions of the robbers towards the pranks. Max literally just copied Kevin from the first movie.
5, The lessons learned taught kids to do things that are illegal. They first made it okay to steal if itโs for a good reason. The robbers broke and entered some kids house and tried stealing from him. Like what? Then they made it okay to lie when they should have told the truth. The robbers never told Maxโs mom what really happened and what they did. Instead, they just brushed it off, making it okay and making it like it never happened. Next, around 55 minutes into the movie, the dad robber comes out with a Santa suit. When the dad robber goes into the house dressed up like Santa and just the Santa suit itself, it makes kids question if Santa is even real or if any of Santaโs at the mall is real. To some kids, this is a big deal because believing in Santa for a kid is a really big part of Christmas. So, they ruined that too.
In conclusion, Home Sweet Home Alone was a complete disappointment mainly for the fact it didnโt have that nostalgic, sentimental, and magical touch of Christmas and the holidays that Home Alone 1 had. I am deeply disappointed and highly recommend you donโt watch this movie.
Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animals!
