Here's an idea. Get Australian actors to play Australian characters and American actors to play American characters. That or spend some money on voice coaching. The binary divide between the two nationalities is central to the plot, so listening to Australians slip in and out of an American accent is infuriating. The number of times I've had thoughts like 'So, he's American, but he's married to an Australian? Oh, wait, no, she's supposed to be American too. Or is she? That bit definitely sounded Australian' All that said, I'm a former Territorian and know Alice well, and it's really great to see it represented in a Netflix series. I'm 1.5 episodes in, and if I can get over the ropey accents, I'm looking forward to the rest.
