I enjoyed watching this film, I felt it was touching on a variety of topics, such as coming of age, a motherโs love for her child, womenโs stance in a world of men circa 1979, etc..
It captured well the atmosphere of the time including the speech from the President Jimmy Carter, which everybody around Dorothea found ridiculous, but she thought was โbeautifulโ.
A very poignant portrait of the relationship between Dorothea and her son, 15-year old Jamie.
I also liked Williamโs character, sort of carefree rolling Stone, so characteristic of the 70sโฆ
In my opinion the characters had quite a lot of depth to them and the film touched me in ways I didnโt expect, hence the 5 stars.
Definitely worth watching, even if youโre a bloke.
