Although it could be considered a watered down version of the SNES port, the Genesis version does offer the same quality in entertainment and challenge, along with the Arcade intro not shown on the SNES. The game control enhanced by the SEGA's six-button controller brings it a step closer to the Arcade feel in comparison overall.

This game although sharing similarities with its sequel (Mother 2/Earthbound,) has its own unique story and the beginnings of the infamous Gyagas you fight on its subsequential game, giving him a backstory no one ever would found out till this game was tried by players. A shame that it would not be available for the NES at that time before Earthbound came out for the SNES.

My first title of the series on SNES I ever bought

Unless you are able to use a trackball as intended, this game is quite irritating to play.
