This is one of the best shows I've watched, that conjures up so many feelings and a strong connection to the cognitive dissonance Grace is experiencing.
*Spoilers, like seriously don't read if you haven't watched it yet*.
Grace, a psychologist who specialises in domestic violence and is in the process of writing a book on how we usually see a person's red flags early in a relationship, but ignore them until it's too late. There is a murder, there is an obvious killer. Yet the series fills us with doubt, confusion, the desire to hold onto the tiny slither of hope that an 'against all reason' situation is present. That's exactly what he wants you to think. The series doesn't just show a sociopathic gaslighter at work, but gaslights you in the process. It hones in a woman falling victim to her own advice, because this isn't a man who is exempt. Her father saw through him, she projected what she wanted and gave him the tools to keep up that facade. It's truly one of my favourite shows and illustrates just how easy it is to slide off reason.
