M*A*S*H# I was only 12 when the first episode of MASH was aired. I recall my father wanting us kids to be quiet and sit still while it was on. I didn't understand much about war or what people went through while fighting a war or performing medical emergency surgeries on wound young men. Even though my father fought in WWII at that time of my life he never spoke about it. All I remember is my Mother trying to explain to us what PTSD was when my father went through panic attacks and suffered nightmares where he's wake up screaming for his Buddies to "get down, or run, or get out of the way." As I got older I started watching MASH again and when I got married my husband and I never missed a single episode. I had a much better understanding of what the show was really about. I thought the cast did an amazing job of bringing the lives of these brave men and women who served their country at great peril to their own lives by saving lives and trying to live as normal of a life as possible under such dangerous and stressful conditions. Alan Alda, Loretta Swit, Gary Burghoff, Jamie Farr, Mike Farrell, Harry Morgan, William Christopher, David Ogden Stiers, Wayne Rogers, Larry Linville, and MacLaine Stevenson along with a lineup of other other stars (some so young but went on to be big stars on their own) did a magnificent job of not only entertaining us every week, but made us think, feel, laugh, cry, and every emotion in between. This show had the highest ratings of any other during it's time on air and won many Emmys and other awards for how well the show was done. It still holds the record for the most watched episode for their last farewell episode than any other show before or since MASH. It's the #1 show that is streaming at the moment. I am binge watching all of 11 seasons right now and I love it as much today as I did back them. Many of the cast members and supporting actors are deceased now but they've made their mark in the hearts and minds of millions. I thank them all. Rest in Peace... and for those still with us, Alan Alda, Mike Farrell, Loretta Swit, Jamie Farr, and Gary Burghoff you made history in the entertainment industry. Thank you for your years of service. God Bless.
