Gut wrenching. Brutal. Honest. Human.
This game is a true merriment of TLOU1. TLOU1 left players exhausted, broken, beaten, fearful and unsure of the impact of the journey while sprinkling you with so many moments of hopefulness, humility, comedy, compassion, and love. TLOU2 is no different.
It is an epic product only being trolled erroneously by consumers with fine toothed combs because it is in fact, so marginally epic in comparison. The narrative makes players feel more, makes them more conflicted, and exhausts the player more than any game has dared to do.
This series was never about positivity and hope; if you were looking for that, you shouldn't be playing a game about a brutal post apocalypse. This game is dark, hellish, unforgiving, real, and nihilistic as can be at times. It is kindred to titles like "Game of Thrones," "There Will Be Blood," and "Pulp Fiction."
Stop reading the rantings, and go play for yourself. Keep an open mind, and remember that the message doesn't have to be packed in a pretty pink ribbon that makes you feel good in order for it to be effective and important. <3
