Mr Robot Season 1.
In the first episode of Mr Robot we as the audience are greeted and introduced to this fragile, delicate, scared looking champ who we learn to be Elliot. Elliot refers to us as โFriendโ, this automatically grabs the attention of us as the viewer we feel something inside of us that draws us towards the character and actually want to be this person's friend, and over the course of this season our โFriendshipโ with Elliot is tried and pushed with all the decisions he makes.
Elliot (played by Rami Malek), portrays perfectly this broken scared man who thinks himself as a hero and is battling intense injustice and the only person who can see the bigger picture and can see what's really going on, however we get the idea that heโs doing all of these things for these people because he is scared and worried about facing his own problems and way to much on his mind. And yet he doesn't care and keeps pushing, trying to do the very best for everyone around him, while destroying those who hurt him and those he cares and loves. We know he has a lonely existence, for all the help he does for everyone and good he tries to do it seems it is never rewarded so as the audience we are always hoping that there can be a slight bit of reward, we want to see him be happy so much because that's all he wants to do for his friends and loved ones but sadly heโs always gets the short straw and cant get a lucky break.
I loved all the disgusting, harsh camera angles and techniques used through the season, they really made me the viewer feel uncomfortable and on edge constantly, I love how much they use wide angles and the longshots which add narrative to the scenes and, they uses a lot of close ups and also extreme close ups of Elliot which is really good as itโs a good way of letting us realize how the characters are feeling within the scene.
Overall season 1 of Mr Robot is the perfect start to a modern classic which makes us constantly question what's actually going on in the online world and makes you think, am i safe? What's actually going on?
