Watched this at Parramatta Event Cinemas in 4DX with my 6yo daughter.
My memories of past Tron movies were that they were reasonably child-friendly, so I was a little nervous at the M rating, but my daughter handled it fine. There was no swearing, rudeness or sexual matters to worry about.
My daughter did find the volume level a bit too high, so might be worth bringing some earplugs for young ones with sensitive ears.
It was such a fun action-packed experience. It's the first time my daughter has experienced 4DX cinema, and she had a hoot getting tossed around from side to side in the intense action scenes.
I've tried 4DX cinema before and been underwhelmed by it, but this time... Oh boy, it was awesome. I've never experienced such aggressive movement that accompanied the dynamics of the film so well. If there was an acadamy award to be given for 4DX chair motion sequencing, give it to the Tron: Ares team!
These action scenes felt like being in an intense 10-minute long waterslide run, getting smashed about in our chairs this way and that way. After each action scene ended (and there were many!), my daughter and I would turn toward each other and giggle with excitement :-)
I can echo what others shared in their comments about the fantastic visual aesthetics and terrific soundtrack.
I notice some critics faulted the storyline, but I thought it was fine and sufficient, and I enjoyed the performances all actors put in, they all felt "committed" to the mood of the film. Anyway, I don't come into a film like this expecting a Shakespearen play full of nuanced depth and meaning, I come for a good time :-)
The Tron: Ares team deliver you a wild fun ride, hold onto your seat and enjoy it! :-)
If you have kids that have never tried 4DX cinema before and they enjoy action films, they'll have a blast with this :-)
