This movie has a good few moments, but besides that, the film is entirely lacking in substance and plot. The movie is meaningless, the dialogue is nonsensical, and events seemingly just happen for no reason.
The movie is completely boring, especially in the first act. It almost gets interesting after the first act, but it falls flat. There was so much wasted potential, as the plot could be super interesting.
The only thing that really stuck with me when I left the movie theater was that I recognized Adrien Brody from a scene.
I feel like the main reason why this movie isn't very good is that the writers of this movie wrote it like how you would write a book, rather than how you would a traditional movie, as it kind of reminds me of the writing style of "The House on Mango Street" or "Hills Like White Elephants". This doesn't really work as you can't physically see things in novels, this problem is so pervasive that you could basically hear the entire movie without visuals and probably leave with the same amount of context as to what happened as if there were visuals.
Pros:
- A few OK scenes
- Gets somewhat interesting around Act 2
- Adrien Brody
Cons:
- Basically completely meaningless
- No character development
- Events don't really follow any sense
