Although it is not out of the ordinary as far as the plot goes it is well constructed and written credibly with suspense till the end. Also the story within the story of Samuel Roffe and his origins in the ghetto give a human face to Roffe and sons whilst pulling at our heartstrings. I am better for having read this novel.
