July 20, 2025 - I was pleased to see that a TV series for once had a male lead character. I'm not a misogynist.. I have two adult daughters.. and I think they like me๐ค๐ However, the current trend both in American and Western European countries' drama productions, is to produce "cookie cutter dramas". "A woman, pick her occupation, goes to a distant and/or rural place to solve a mystery that only she can solve.. cause like.. you know.. she don't need no man to assist her.. blah! "Untamed" offers a fairly likable male lead, and a possible murder mystery. Fine. The series for the most part is a "soap opera" in crime mystery clothing. I would guess that the six episode season would only be two or three episodes if all of the domestic/touchy feely side plots weren't included. I like Sam Neill, and I'm glad he got a paycheck for being in this series. The acting for the most part is wooden.. (a fault of the director?), and a lot of time is spent on stereotypical characters. Like the Native American park ranger, who obligatorily brings up how the Europeans stole Native American lands. I'm mostly Native American, and me and my besties of European decent never talk about that kind of stuff. This series is aimed at "pearl clutchers", and older viewers that don't want a lot of drama and excitement. I had to stop watching after the second episode.. when I found out that in an upcoming episode, someone had a major "misadventure".. no spoilers here.
