This is sadly now the easiest 1 star review you will likely get. Hunt: Showdown was a terrific game, sure, it had some bugs and issues, but for the most part, it was fantastic, a unique PVP experience. Then came Hunt: Showdown 1896..... I don't understand, and never will, how developers can get it so wrong. The game has regressed at an alarming rate, more bugs, more crashes, horrific maps, worse graphics and embarrassing visuals ( how is that even possible on next gen? ) an absolutely horrific UI and sensitivity settings overhaul ( that absolutely nobody asked for ) and the most embarrassing RNG aim assist in any game ever. Now, that next gen update was widely condemned, and rightfully so, you thought they would have recognised it and tried to fix it. But instead, and only Crytek can do this to themselves, they doubled down and the game is genuinely in a sad place. Of course you will always get happy clapping simps who watch streamers that are in partnership with the game, but they'll move on as soon as the next game comes out, Hunt lost its core players, lost its identity and now it's just a parody of what it used to be. The numbers will continue to dwindle and it'll die a slow death. All of their own doing.
