I've never done a movie or series review before, but this reboot is so bad, I felt it was necessary. It's horrible! I didn't watch Rugrats much as a kid, but I do now as an adult (the original version, that is). I love to fall asleep with it with my husband and kids in the bed with me.
Where do I even begin? The animation is horrible! Tommy and Angelica especially just look...weird. I've seen decent CGI cartoons, so you think at this point in our technological age, this would be a lot better! The mouths don't completely match up with what they're saying, and like I said before...they just look too weird. Kind of like something that you don't like looking at, but you can't look away, either.
Tommy doesn't seem to be the fearless leader he once was. It annoys me when Tommy gets upset over something he normally wouldn't get upset over. I can't stand Chaz and Grandpa's new voices. Chaz's creeps me out, like a creepy clown, which doesn't make sense seeing as how Chuckie hates clowns! And they completely changed Grandpa into a hippie, so he's no longer the old-fashioned geezer that loves the number 15! I can't believe they got rid of Phil and Lil's dad just to make Betty a lesbian, all for the sake of inclusivity and diversity. Suzie isn't the good to Angelica's bad with her being the babies' age instead of the same age as Angelica. She was the one who would stand up for the babies against Angelica! And Boris and Minka, are you serious? Is Hollywood so against religion that they had to take away their Jewishness? Also, it was Chaz's cafe, not Betty's.
In conclusion, it was a good idea, but I'm so disappointed in all the changes. They could have done a lot better than this, but lately, Hollywood is just pumping out a bunch of junk. I haven't gone to the movies in over 5 years because everything is either a remake, unoriginal, or just plain propaganda!
