What did I just watch?
I don't know what they were thinking but the first half had me falling asleep. To much time Doting over every characters appearance,
like we all are aware who they are get to the story.
Acting at first was like watching a Collage play, like feeling a sort of disappointed anxiety of (Why did I buy a ticket to see this?) it did settle down later.
Some of the acting was like "Is it that hard to pick up your crafted skills you honed so well over the years"?
The only actor that stayed true to the character was Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern felt a little restrained but fell into step.
Downton Abbey always had life and a flowing smooth 3D movement of everyone's lives kept you deeply involved even in the last movie.
This one stuck you in a basket of turmoil, mainly Mary's (go figure).
Seemed her and her handsome loyal Hubby with lovingly unresentfulness bent to her every itch that convinced you had the best relationship from watching the series.
Guess turned out to be just another gold digging CAD?
(disappointingly unrealistic writers approach for his absence in the movie IMO).
It just didn't start off smoothly It was Dry as white toast jetting around with no real feeling or soul..
I guess some parts were funny?
As I heard some in the audience laughing from time to time.
The only part that touched me was the very end with Mary's Downton memories of the past, her Love of her life her young beautiful sister and seeing Maggie Smith.
Made me tear up a bit as that is the way the series made you soulfully connect with the characters.
It just made you feel cheated like drinking out of a glass that you know has a chip on the edge, you're always aware of it's flaw and to stay away from it.
If you are a real commonsense fan of Downton Abbie and not a mindless Cult fan, don't drink from this chipped glass.
Wait for the DVD at the least, sadly it truly was that disappointing in my honest opinion.
