The book and the methodology are proven. The readers admit that they didn’t create this methodology, but have rephrased it. It’s a good reminder for organizations that knew this and need a refresher. Also good for teams who are looking to improve. Good to Great, by Jim Collins would be a better start. But the audio version is PAINFUL! The readers have a constant and annoying habit of nervously laughing for no apparent reason. They will laugh/giggle while saying any random word in a sentence throughout the book. It’s borderline creepy and all of the male readers do it. It’s so bad that it’s a distraction. It’s so prevalent that it seems that they were coached to talk this way. Bad advice.

The story is slow and disjointed. Drags on. But the worst aspect is the preponderance of subtitles. Some subtitles are good and they help with the story-telling. But they have segments that go on for days, so if you want to look away for a second, to make comments to your partner, you miss a lot. Well, a lot just means more of the same dribble in French. We stopped the series. It’s as if they are making it all up as they go.

This is a pathetic novel peppered with MAGA hate and far-left propaganda. Narrator, Scott Brick is excellent, as always. But Iles has gone too far in his attempts to shame all whites, especially men, republicans, Trump supporters and anything that does not support the far-left Woke narrative. He is irresponsible in his story-telling as it could further divide Americans by preaching only hatred by whites to blacks. He never cites the progress we have made, because it would undermine his divisive tendencies. Frankly, I feel that this book could unduly incite unrest, especially arson of antebellum structures and other historic sites the Iles feels are monuments of hatred. This is a shameless disgrace of a novel written by an author revered by so many, including me, until now. I will add that the story is compelling.

The series is great! Unique! BUT…Dexter’s sister, played by Jennifer Carpenter is hard to watch. She can’t decide what she wants to look like. First of all, she’s one of those who copies the Rob Lowe “stroke mouth”. It works for Rob Lowe because it’s natural for him. But she, like so many others fake it which is painfully obvious, especially when they forget to do it and suddenly remember. Makes it more obvious, therefore more annoying. Then there’s ever-present trend of “Eat Acting”, in which almost all actors must talk with their mouths full of food and make smacking noises. Dexter does it and Carpenter has mastered Eat Acting while she employs her fake stroke mouth. Two annoying behaviors blended into one! The there’s Lauren Velez who plays dexter’s boss. Guess what…Selective Stroke Mouth too! She also forgets that she likes to use it and turns it on awkwardly. Notice to Hollywood: Eat Acting is disgusting and real people don’t eat/talk that way, especially during dates. Tell all actors to give up the Stroke Mouth act. It is terribly unnatural and annoying. Otherwise, great show!
