I love a good old-fashioned black comedy. Some posters said it was about a psychopathic chef and his blind minions of a staff. No. It was a tremendous ridicule of elitist, upper-crust, wealthy, entitled patrons (who would never in a million years think that anything bad could befall them - I guess that's how rich people think) and the ridiculousness of the whole "foodie" attitude. Four tiny pieces of lemon caviar on a bed of some frothy liquid - puleeze. Fancy spreads for bread (bread which is not served because "bread is poor people's food"). LOL!
As a "good cook" myself, the whole foodie thing over the last few years is, IMO, insane, which is a focal point of the film. In fact, a cheeseburger is actually the hero of the movie! You actually find yourself rooting for the demise of the horrible patrons. And yes, Chef is truly off his rocker, but only after a lifetime of feeding snobs who don't appreciate his art.
