I remember reading this book back in high school around the time J.D. Salinger passed away. It is a VERY interesting story because I think anybody who has had a rough childhood can relate to a lot of what Holden Caulfield is saying and going through. You can't help but wonder if Holden is making the whole story up in his mind or if it all actually happened. It also reflects reality since not every persons life has a happy ending, most people are just like Holden Caulfield, wandering through life with no clear direction or purpose, only to end up at a dead end. It is also sad that the man who shot John Lennon had a bizarre fascination with this book, literally mirroring his life to that of Holden. He even took a copy out and started reading it at the crime scene before being arrested.
I definitely recommend this book to anybody who likes to read.
