From someone who loves movies and grades them a bit harsher than most others I have to say Avatar The Way of The Water was a cinematic failure at best. *Indirect Spoilers*
We take you to a story, with a time skip where they toss you into a story that doesn't have much background, for a film that was released 13 years ago, many people have forgotten most of the original story and plot, but it introduces you into a time skip with very a confusing reveal of an old antagonist with hopes of fulfilling a mission that doesn't have good background.
The introduction of characters were horrific, they introduce characters, but they did not build upon them, for a 3 hour long movie, you should be able to build upon the characters instead of introducing a character, and hinting at another character which can build a special relationship, friendship with them both. But they didn't do that here, instead they introduce characters and left them as is and moved on to a different plot.
I don't know the difference between the first two hours of Avatar or National Geographic, as much of Avatar in the first two hours was solely focused on visuals and floating around in the marine ocean. Which introduce a possible good character development of someone, but failed to do so and instead gave such confusing powers to a person without background of how this operates.
The climax of the movie was severely fast paced, too fast and too much stuff going on and way too many scene changes to focus on one character at a time. I remember I had my head down for a minute looking for nachos and I was on one scene, then the next thing you know a major event happened and then they switched the plot, so we see bad pacing here from the director.
Overall, I wouldn't see this movie, it is horrendously boring as well.
