This movie got really hyped up and critics scored it decently and that is why I went to see it. Also because I grew up reading the books and I still have my original from over 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the hype is is just that: hype. It was excruciatingly boring and very slow to start. I kept waiting for a really great scene, but it never came. The CGI was off, the acting was off, and overall it wasn't interesting enough. Could not connect to a single character. The plot was weak and only about four or five scary stories were featured, and not for long enough. I felt like I wasted money when I left the theater. I keep seeing good reviews and I'm honestly not getting how people come to the conclusion that this movie is quality.
I think it should have been about someone finding the book and reading it to their friends, which each story being shown on screen. Like an "Are You Afraid of the Dark" style display.
