As soon as the very first characters lifted their masks, I groaned, I knew what I was in for. I mean does anyone like teenagers? Kids don't, adults don't, I'm pretty sure they don't like each other. Why do we keep making them? Better yet why do we keep making stories about them?
I watched two episodes and yes it is yet another vapid, boring, shallow young adult television series. I couldn't stand the way they talked. This is supposed to be high fantasy not mall rats. The music at the end of the episodes too? What is that? Talk about lack of immersion in a world. I spent two hours watch really bad actors yell really bad lines at each other (I swear some of them were reading from cue cards) while somebody recorded. Not once did I feel drawn into the world or forget myself in anyway. And if a story doesn't achieve that... What's the point?
I could have spent two hours watching my kids argue and felt more immersed in the story.
And yes, I'm sorry the obligatory token LGBTQ couple in every show is getting so tired. It's so forced. Guess what, reality check. I'm queer. There really isn't that many of us, not counting idiot teenagers that are "queer for a year" because it's yet another way for them to ruin everything. If you're truly LGBTQ you should hate this hamfisted trash more than anyone.
Sad. Watching this genuinely made me sad. Then again, are we really surprised by any of this?
