No single book could capture all the facets of the emerging commercial space industry and present all of its facets in a completely objective way. There are too many viewpoints, and important parts of the story will only emerge in the light of history, which isn't written yet.
But Jacobson has done an outstanding job at introducing the commercial space industry and come very close to that ideal.
If someone is not familiar with the revolutions in space transportation and the commercial use of space which have been taking place over the last 25 years, and is wondering what it might mean for their business, this is an excellent introduction. If someone is thinking about getting involved in the industry, either as a career choice or as a prospective investor, this is a book I would (and will) recommend. And as I do frequently get calls from people asking just those kinds of questions, I'm grateful that Jacobson has done an outstanding job setting down the framework of the commercial space industry at present.
Things continue to move fast, the industry might look quite different in another five years; but even then, I think the perspective of how it got here will be good background of lasting value.
