I haven’t played the game but I must say as an Action movie enthusiast this movie is horrible. I gave it 2 stars based on the fact that the CGI was amazing and money well spent. Other than that though the movie was very lack luster. The movie lacked a story line, character development, understanding of the fantasy world and because of that it was extremely hard to follow what was happening when it wasn’t a fight scene. I love action movies but even movies with little talking have enough dialogue for you to put a plot together. In between fights of this movie pretty much nothing happened and these are the time where story development opportunities were missed. I am a huge Tony Jaa fan but where was his character development? Nothing about him or his team made sense at all and even to the end of the movie what are their names even? Also I couldn’t understand why Tony couldn’t understand English at if Hell Boy only speaks English as well throughout the whole movie why wouldn’t Tony understand English or why wouldn’t Hell boy know the other language? Also the chocolate seen like really they’re friends now because of a Hershey’s bar? Give me a break with the Hollyweird cliques. She had just saved him from falling like 3 secs before. Another thing that kind of threw me off was the Spider things (not sure how to spell their name) that seemed weaker than the Diablos took out way more of the Captains team. Them being able to get away from the stronger creature Diablos but not the Spider didn’t really make sense to me. Especially, when Tony Jaa’s character seemed to be somewhat trying to help them and killed the Spider rather easily later in the movie. Overall I say all of that to say the CGI was great but the attention to detail in the plot was horrible and needs to seriously be revisited before making the sequel.
