Disappointing Experience
I walked into 'Chaava' with high expectations, but unfortunately, the film failed to deliver. Here's a rundown of what went wrong:
The casting of Rashmika was a misfire. Her performance lacked the elegance and poise required for a maratha woman. Her dialogue delivery felt incomplete, leaving me waiting for her to finish her lines.
The background music, courtesy of AR Rahman, was a letdown. It felt like a modern movie, which didn't quite fit the tone of a historical film.
The movie had an overreliance on slow-motion sequences. If you remove these, the movie would be reduced to a mere 1-hour runtime. The fighting scenes, in particular, were overly reliant on slow motion.
Vicky Kaushal's performance was a highlight, but even he was let down by the film's poor direction.
Unlike typical bollywood movies that feature a slow-motion entry for the main character only at the beginning, this film inexplicably showcased Vicky's movements in slow motion throughout the entire movie.
Akshay Khanna, on the other hand, delivered a memorable performance.
The movie's script felt thin, with too much repetition and not enough substance. The filmmakers missed an opportunity to explore the fascinating story of Chatrapati Shambhaji Maharaj.
Overall, 'Chaava' was a disappointing experience. With poor casting, lackluster music, and a thin script, it failed to leave a lasting impression.
