This book, although 50 years old, is deeply disturbing in that it provides a clear picture of how the Federal government of 1969 viewed the “Indian” in Canada. That picture is from today’s perspective deeply shameful. Even more shameful is that now in 2022, with the son of Pierre Elliott Trudeau as Prime Minister our Federal government can still not do anything but offer carefully prepared lines of platitudes, and so little, or in reality nothing has changed in our governmental attitude towards the “Indian”.
