I absolutely loved this movie, it felt like a love letter to Superman as a whole appealing to all sides of his history. The basic plot is that Superman recently stopped a dictator from invading a country and everyone is freaking out at the idea of him taking sides in wars and being against him, from there it goes in amazing directions that I have to talk about (spoilers below)
So firstly is revealed that Luthor is founding the dictator in exchange for half the country they are invading, which on it's own seems very much like a plot Gene Hackman Luthor would have had in the classic movies, but then it's revealed that he doesn't really care about that and just wanted an excuse to kill Superman, which he himself admits is petty and is just peak Clancy Brown Luthor
On the opposite end of the spectrum though we got countless reporters thinking Superman is hiding something and even them arresting and torturing him for info about how he plans to take over the world, which of course he doesn't but it felt very Man of Steel
Couple that with an amazing introduction to the Justice Gang (before this I thought "wait, Mr. Terrific, the guy with the T on his face is in this movie?" But he was honestly my favorite character) that hearkens back to when Superman first showed up in the comics and other Meta Humans would often butt-heads with him and distrust him before they became the proper Justice League
Overall I can not recommend this movie enough, it perfectly marries the light hearted hopeful tone from the classic movies and cartoons with the more dark and grounded tone of Man of Steel, to the point where it is probably just going to be my go to Superman movie from here on out as I feel like it can work for any mood
