I found The Awakening a very pleasant read and almost poetic in it’s turn of phrase and description of life in Grand Isle in the 1890’s
I knew the end of the story before I started, but somehow wasn’t disturbed as I thought I might be. I am a male reader and that might/certainly be one of the reasons.
