I was unsure about how I would feel about Tella's point of view but she really grew on me as a character. This one is just as magical and exciting as the first book. It also explores the world and it's legends so much deeper. The ending made me sad and thrilled to read the next one!

I liked this book for it's well-written emotion and relationships. Also, it isn't what I normally read so it was a breath of fresh air. I read this book with the intention to cry at the end and although I did, I would have been able to enjoy the sad ending more if it hadn't been so rushed (I admit, I do enjoy the occasional sad ending). Overall, most of the story felt sort of stale and unnecessary, most of what happens in the book isn't really important at all. Also, as someone who much prefers cleaner books, this one wasn't for me.

I was disappointed that this book was so unoriginal. It felt like several other popular books compiled into one. Paedyn wasn't a very likeable or relatable character although I liked Kai. I found the world-building very lacking although I haven't read the second book yet and I believe it can improve. I would only recommend this book if you really enjoy romance and don't care much about the plot. The romance was a little silly at times but in a really enjoyable way, actually. For the most part, it was Paedyn and Kai's relationship that kept me hooked and the rest of the book wasn't terribly interesting. I will definitely read the second book for hopes of improvements.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. Her writing is exquisitely beautiful and it makes the entire world she writes about shine. It's so easy to imagine this enchanting and slightly sinister world with her lovely crafting. The plot had me gasping several times with turns I didn't expect. It's unpredictable which I miss in a lot of books. I also loved how her characters were unique and each one interesting in their own ways. I'm looking forward to reading the two sequels and hope they're just as colorful and mind-bending.

SPOILERS!!! I was invested in the story because I was dying to know how their escape would happen and what justice would befall their captors. Only for the story to end exactly how it started. This was especially frustrating. The characters weren't particularly likable and the plot often didn't make sense or had glaring plot holes. The story tries to hard to be edgy but just comes across as over dramatized. This isn't a review just for the sake of hating. I genuinely wanted to like this book and I still enjoyed reading it despite it lacking quality. I hope to read more by this author in the hopes that this simply wasn't her best book, I still believe she has potential.
