Gervais takes Brents perpetual, painful struggle not to be himself and magnifies it to a point that it"s actual hard to watch at times.
And of course it all leads to the poignant moment of his acceptance by those around him, all-be -it motivated by compassion and sympathy (with one notable and very sweet exeption).
As with most of Gervais's off stage work, it's not so much played for laughs but more for the awkwardness that makes you cringe so hard that it almost hurts.
Frankly, I think it's a bloody brilliant piece of work; very well acted and diected as you would expect it to be....and very clever.
