Dunki is a heartwarming film that tackles the subject of illegal immigration in a typically bittersweet , Hirani way. It is very bollywood, but has an absolutely gorgeous and lovely beating heart at its centre. The performances are lovely. Vicky broke me. But everyone does have their moments. Srk, taapsee, anil and vikram. The plot is simplistic, and ofcourse the screenplay is like every hirani film. Like a gujarati play. This does not take away from how it makes you feel overall. It makes you chuckle at times, wallow in tears in moments, and feel love for Manu and Hardy every now and then. This also proves why we need SRK. Why we need men like Hardy. Why the way he looks at Manu, the way he loves, is beautiful. But thats me ( a man) speaking. Its tender, respectful, warm , giving and accepting. The songs elevate the film. Every song is woven beautifully into the screenplay. This soundtrack will stay with me for a while. Pritam, sonu, varun and arijit - gosh you guys are talented! Chal we watna ! Go watch the film guys. It will end your year with a feeling of goodness, kindness , warmth and love.

“The film is about a son’s longing for his father’s attention” Because he is upset that he doesn’t get any, he uses masculinity to attract attention. And VOILENCE ( not violence ). He believes that “ The world began with men hunting and bringing food while WOMEN look after their homes “ “These were Alpha men” “ WOMEN chose men based on that” “Later, men started writing poetry. These were BETA men” “ This is the world of men. Deal with it” “ Big pelvis equates healthy children” “If I cheat on you, I will only do it for the love of my father”. Quickly proceeds to cheat on his wife with a steamy scene. “ If you make a fool out of me ( the woman he cheats with), i will ask you to lick my shoe” “ A scene introducing the villain shows him getting married to his third husband ( hes gay). He gets angry about something, and proceeds to rape him in front of the attending public. Then he proceeds to rape the other two husbands.” Oh wait, sorry. Its wives. Was wondering if this makes a difference to people who loved the film. Raping a woman or a man should be exactly the same right? Lord bobby is a lovely villain. Rape is good. “In the end, the tragic hero loses everything” ( his wife and kids leave him. BUT Hes alive. Does not go to jail after killing hundreds. Gets back his fathers affection. His family is with him. Gets loads of fans. Loses no money obviously. Loses no reputation ofcourse. ) A film that reflects the times of our nation. Our end is near. Celebrate celebrate.
