this is written like a B-movie slasher sequel, true to its genre I guess. so much of it is spent on characters talking endlessly about what has happened and what will happen and how they're feeling and how they know each other and stupid one-liners and forced exposition. very little of the dialogue feels natural and it took me right out of the experience. if a movie outright tells you what the character motivations are in plain text I could go read a book instead. all the nuance of the supernatural elements from the first movie are thrown out the door too in favor of corny over-the-top action sequences. also not a fan of how they tied certain character relationships together, makes the world feel smaller and contrived. I did like the new concepts introduced and the cinematography was good but my god what a let down from the first.
