If you have really read Emily Dickinson I honestly doubt that you can get on board with this depiction of the author and her life and work. I wished the production was as poetic and complex as she was. I get the sentiment to “modernize the classics and invite younger audiences” but, the truth is, you are erasing the essence with all that cheap language and awful music. However, maybe this show can bring some people to discover the author, so, perhaps it’s not all lost.
