This film took my breath away. I saw Nani's performance and I could not recognise him from V, in fact, it took me several movies of Nani's to realise he was the antagonist of V I had fallen in love with.
He is a very versatile actor. He can be both the antagonist and protagonist. After viewing several of his films for the past near two weeks, I can guarantee that Nani is a phenomenal talent who can invest in adding more character acting with each role to make himself stand out from the herd of "heroes" in South Asian cinema.
He has the same piercing look in his eyes as Sivaji Ganesan, I kid you not. Although, Nani can put more effort into the emotional scenes by crying because Sivaji can cry without provocation of solutions and even dry crying.
I do find the fight scenes too cheesy at times in many of Nani's films because it was visible he was hanging by threads, literally lol....it did not appear organic in the least, but that is the directors, producers' and fight directors' responsibility, not Nani's.
I just can't get over how brilliant an actor Nani is. I really hope Telegu and Tamil and much other South Asian films take advantage of his talent.
I am insanely in love with Sai Pallavi as I have been a fan of her for years. She is an amazing talent as well but often given stereotypical female roles that vaguely amount to supporting roles. In another film with Sai Pallavi and Nani, Nani's character was given an overwhelming emotional scene when his sister in law's life was harmed than Sai Pallavi's character is the younger sister of the sister in law (played by Bhumika Chawla). The male centric egotism and irrational heroism is the single most intolerable thing to watch in South Asian cinema.
I want Sai Pallavi to be seen as the lead in many films, hopefully this happens sooner than later. She has the same exact classical talent as seen with Nani. I can see Saroja Devi in her talents. It is just a pleasant surprise to see two brilliant actors in a single movie like this. Each of the characters they have played all fits in like a puzzle piece--as in, they were born to play these roles in Shyam Singha Roy. I hope they can have more acting opportunities together and otherwise. Please, Telegu film makers, please...give them proper roles with proper script and character building in future films, do not settle for the garden variety cheap roles. You can create serious films that can be both a drama, action and fantasy but without the cheap elements of special effects. And if you do invest in special effects, ensure the CGI also appears organic instead of making it seem unnatural. Thanks!
