It was an interesting story, well told, with a cast loaded with big name actors of a couple generations. Scorsese had himself a big reunion of his favorite mobster type actors and personal NY buddies to headline this movie, and included whole other generation of aspiring and already accomplished mobster suitable actors from Sebastian Maniscalco to Eddie Van Zandt and Bobby Carnavalle et al. The flick seemed to meander a bit in its apparently unbounded 3.5 hour run time, but it collected itself well most of the way through.
My only criticism is Scorsese using Pacino and DeNiro to play Hoffa, who was, I believe, of northern European, certainly not Italian, extraction, and Sheeran, the part of the Irishman. Sorry, but to my eyes and ears, their appearance, mannerisms, and the way they speak says New York Italian-American to me. Net-net its a good flick well worth the time investment to take it in. Great to have it on Netflix, because being able to pause a 3.5 hour meeting whenever you need or want to is far better than seeing it non-stop in a theater.
