I enjoyed the book but have been so disappointed by the show. They changed major parts of the story to focus only on the dire situation of Korean immigrants in Japan when the book is about community, family love, resilience and the search for home. The show is confusing with constant jumps through time and I can't imagine how someone could keep track of all the characters without having read the book. Of course, the actors are wonderful and the cinematography is gorgeous but I expected so much better.
