2** rating at best. Very disappointed and I really do not agree that this is a good movie. The new “reverse aging” does not work. In many scenes the actor’s heads are too large for their bodies, disproportionately. Also the actors faces are altered but their gait, posture, stature is true to their real age and not correct for the characters they portray.
Di Niro is a brilliant actor but not as the Irishman. He bears little/no resemblance to Frank Sheeran and therefore is not believable.
The movie follows a very narrow book storyline and therefore the full impact of the story is absent.
The women portrayed are completely cardboard characters and this detracts from any sexual tension that could have been added to liven the film up.
3.5 hours was far too long and the last 39 minutes was completely unnecessary.
If you like vintage cars and clothing the film is good on detail but a very poor offering overall.
Finally, Al Pacino’s wig work was shockingly awful! I think he must have upset someone along the way.
