As they say its science fiction and horror movie, they failed to create strong relation between its science fiction and horror. The story is not so strong or interesting, it just keep our expectations high and at the end there is nothing. The reason for hating Adam is also not so impressive and unconvincing. Basically they create some scenes to show us something is going to happend or there will be a twist or surprise but NOTHING.
