Reading through these reviews I feel like people didn’t see the same movie I did. I was 14 when I saw the original in the theater and it scared me to death. The story has haunted me ever since. I felt the only sequels that did the original justice were Halloween II & H20, until now (the Rob Zombie movies should have never been made). Jamie Lee Curtis is fantastic in this movie and Judy Greer as her daughter was perfect casting. The reintroduction of Michael Myers was masterfully done. I believe there were a lot more back stories that could have been told but the movie is close to a two hour run time and I understand perfectly why they couldn’t go into all of them. We got a nice understanding of Laurie’s shattered life since that Halloween night in 1978 to help us feel for her and her need for closure. But what you really got about Laurie is her need to protect her family at all costs. So much that she had ended up alienating her daughter, yet still found a way to stay close to her granddaughter. I’m not going to say anything that will ruin the movie for anyone that had not yet seen it. In conclusion, I believe this movie did the original justice. It’s not 1978 anymore, it’s 2018 and that means that all of our real world fears are represented in this film along with the unnerving fear of Michael Myers and the unexplained evil that drives him. Bravo! 9/10 for me!!
