The Marvels is a narrative mess with overuse of terrible CGI, lack of good and compelling story arcs for any characters, bad humor, and has a terrible generic villain with generic motivations. Marvel and some reviewers (e.g.: Hollywood reporter) may blame the disastrous box office on superhero fatigue. This is not the case. Let’s compare the story of 6 heroes. Iron Man, fought his way out of a terrorist cave after months of torture to emerge a reformed man. Captain America started as a little guy with heart who was willing to give his all to be part of an experiment that could kill him so he could defeat Nzi Germany. Black Widow had a broken past, breaking away from a soviet secret spy programme damaged goods and overcame that to give her all in End Game. Now let’s see the latest batch. Ms Marvel is a diverse kid whose mother mailed her a bracelet which gave her powers. Captain Marvel was in an explosion and got her powers. Monika Rabo had a spell cast on her and got her powers. There is no heart, there are no obstacles overcome. Its just Thor4 level of silliness for nearly 2 hours, which feels like 10. Do you see Marvel why your not writing compelling characters or stories. You use to have a grand plot with a menacing villain. Now its just cut and paste! – but with terrible characters and terrible stories. Spend time on developing compelling characters, a proper universe, good stories. Forget your politics and forced social messaging and go back to good story telling. Three good and beloved IPS are in the toilet. Pixar, Marvel and Star wars. So we go back and watch the phase 1-3 films because that is all we have – its not super hero fatigue – its people who don’t understand superheroes having taken over production and making rubbish. Its heart breaking to see something this dismal and generic come from the studio that gave us civil war and infinity. Oh how far it has fallen with this terrible choice of scripts, directing and character. Don’t waste your time on this one. Terrible.

What a horrific legacy for indy. Its an incoherent, boring mess of a film. Indy has little agency. FWB' character is another insufferable flawless KK insert. I was bored senseless and couldnt wait to leave the cinema. The worst part I'd watching yet another deconstruction of a beloved character. Broken marriage, drunk, dead son, helpless. What a horrible legacy. Not a respected professor, happily married but willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Its a horrible horrible legacy. Save your money for MI.

This was a middling attempt at re-engaging the audience after the disastrous Phase 4 (bore). I think the worst criticism I can give a movie is that it bored me for about 40%. The CGI is dark, and overwhelming. It has the formulaic approach to marvel story telling without any significant twists. You know what is going to happen as soon as all the characters are established. There is little character development. There are some potentially interesting communities in the quantum realm but we learn nothing about them. Kang is a middling villain. We dont yet understand his goals. The multiverse continues to make death and consequence seem irrelevant. Phase 5 seems to be just a continuation of the mess evolved in Phase 4. I had hoped for alot more.
