What a powerful film. Marianne Jean Baptiste is superb.

The movie was slow to engage me, but it did once the initial conflict happens. Unfortunately it lost me when the lead character who is a Black Woman Ex NOLA Police Officer is not allowed to respond to White Male aggression the way a White Male lead character is allowed to. I gave it three stars because the first part of the film honestly portrayed how it feels to be a Black Woman in America...you are outnumbered and have to depend on the kindness of White strangers to determine if your inalienable rights will be respected. The whole thing with her taking the dead deer is just an UNBELIEVABLE response from a Black Woman from NOLA right after Katrina. I was like I love animals but girl you got other problems to deal wid. UGH!

Truly not worthy of my time, not worthy to follow behind the great Akira Kurosawa original. Spike Lee is a colorist and it shows up big time in this film. I don't care if he has a preference for light skinned or racially ambiguous women HOWEVER he is a powerful man and his choices reverberate. The only dark skinned woman in the movie is an unsympathetic Detective. who is not dressing for success. This movie seemed to be made so Spike could dog Boston, cheer the Yankees and have old men chasing and catching much younger men. The only character I liked was Jeffrey Wright's although his loyalty to an arrogant unlikeable Denzel character went unexplained and made me like his character less. Lastly the woman who played Denzel's wife is 39 Denzel is 70...it was a creepy pairing he was waaaay to old for her. UGH! Do yourself a favor go watch the original on Criterion.

The Ones Who Live did not disappoint. I was engaged in this series as if it was season 5 or 6 of TWD. The fact that Andrew Lincoln and Danai G have never been nominated for Emmy's reflects bad on The Emmy's not these gifted actors. Now I want a full reunion with Darryl, Carol, Maggie , Richonne.

Love this show even though some of my faves are gone.

Great film, a love letter to Black Parents, particularly Black Fathers. Will Smith would get the Oscar today if I was in charge of handing them out. Ajanue Ellis is at the top of her game in her last three projects. The two young ladies who portrayed Venus and Serena were astounding. Great movie for the family to watch together. Bravo!

Loved it, great story, great acting. Yaya was standout IMNSHO.
