Everyone says how realistic the show is. But it’s so unrealistic.
, Nobody ever foresaw or complained about the land one day being carved up into rectangles, and as if it was a bad thing to farm the land. Just so obviously 21st-century BS, it’s ridiculous.
, Cowboys and Indians did not play nice with each other in 1883. Sure there were instances where they traded with each other, but on whole they did not help each other out, but this show makes it out as if everyone is super chill with each other when in fact they hated each other and were scared of each other. It just paints a false picture.
, Many pioneers were devout Christians. God and faith was central to their way of life. This show goes out of its way to ignore that.
, No 18 year old daughter traveling with her family would’ve been allowed to dress the way she does, modesty was A primary virtue. No teenage girl would talk back to her parents the way she does, or especially have sex with a cowboy and then decide she’s going to marry an Indian. So absurdly unrealistic it’s hard to stomach.
, Why does the girl have such a weird unnatural accent, and her parents don’t have an accent at all? How does the Director not realize this disconnect?
tries to come off as some epic drama taking great pains to stay true to history, when it does anything but. It’s truly a ridiculous TV show.
