Very entertaining, but so many flaws. I have never watched a boxing movie where I didn't root for the winner, until now.
(Spoiler)
Damian has never had a family or consistent support, grows up in an abusive group home and then goes to jail for 18 years. When Damian comes out of jail he is broken, hungry and knows he has one last chance to make it before he gets too old.
Creed, who should have been arrested the same night Damian was arrested, runs away from the police and consequently never goes to jail. While Creed's friend serves 18 long years in prison, Creed goes on to become a successful boxer.
Shortly after Damian gets out, he wins a heavy weights championship and finally catches a break. He gets one good taste of the good life and acts like a jerk momentarily. Damian's poor behavior motivates Creed to fight him.
This fight left me blah. It was a great fight scene, but I couldn't root for Creed (who is usually the one we all want to win)!
As a major Creed fan, this one fell short. More emphasis on the relationship and mending bridges would have made this movie so much better.
