It's for something other than your average American audience. If you're out for blood, can't deal with lifestyles outside your own, can't conceive an inmate being treated humanely, do not understand the Swedish prison system and sentencing guidelines, or do not subscribe to the concept of compassion and mercy, you'll be pretty outraged by this movie, and how the protagonist behaves and is treated.
The series is entertaining, though it could have been told in 4-5 episodes rather than 6, hence minus one star.
Regarding content, the writers take a very delicate subject and try to view it from the point of view of the "aggressor" and the things that lead people to get into circumstances they otherwise wouldn't have entertained.
I like the kindness with which this subject matter is treated. Though there are some minor references to immigration, the series is not overtly political. Would recommend.
