So I, like most other reviewers, love Jordan Peele and was very excited for this movie. However, the movie is really not great and does not hold to the standard of Get Out or Us. —SPOILERS— In short, acting was superb, some of the visuals were great (especially when the monster sucks up those people and subsequently kills then over top the farmhouse, dripping blood everywhere. That scene was amazing and gripping). However, the plot was seemingly all over the place and so much seems randomly thrown in, and other parts seem missing all together. They dedicate a TON of time to this monkey plot with Steve Yuen and then just kill him off halfway through, making half the movie irrelevant. There’s a great build up through the first half but then it just falls apart. I feel like I never learned much about the other characters nor did I care by the end of it. There wasn’t an exact resolution to the plot and there are a ton of unanswered questions left, and not in a good way. I’d say like a 4 or 5/10, super disappointed.
